In the Red Devil Mansion, Remilia holds the highest position.

She is the owner of the mansion and she is like a queen in status.

Behind her, Flandre is the second highest in position.

On that level is Patchouli, the owner of the biggest library in Gensokyo.

Flan, Remilia, and Patchouli are the top dogs of the place.

Other than that, there are other people like the fairy maids working here, the gatekeeper Hong Meiling, and some unique characters like...

The cute and pitiful Koakuma.

Koakuma is Patchouli's familiar, she listens to her mistress' words. Strictly speaking, she doesn't have to take orders from anyone but Patchouli.

Remiliar is the master of the place she calls home so it would be fairer to say Koakuma is in a matrix structure where she might need to take orders from Remilia sometimes.

She is similar in status to the head maid Sakuya. However, she can't order the fairy maids around.

Wu Yan's current status would be ranked after Remilia, Flandre, and Patchouli.

As the head butler, his job is to dispose of the task given to him by the masters (Flan and Remilia). He can command the fairy maids as he sees fit.

He can even command Sakuya.

Sakuya might have qualms about it but she prepared three portions instead of two portions for her masters and the head butler.

Koakuma is in charge of keeping Patchouli fed so other than when Sakuya calls for a meal together with Patchouli would she need to prepare meals for Patchouli on behalf of Koakuma.

Like the perfect head maid, she taught Wu Yan all the rules of the place while he was having his meal.

The day starts with preparing meals for Flan and Remi before they wake up. Then, he and Sakuya would need to ensure they get up, bathe, get clothed, and eat.

Wu Yan wanted to tell him he had no intention to do any of that.

However, Sakuya is seriously teaching him and he could feel her passion behind the lecture so he decided he could at least hear her out.

Wu Yan can see she takes her job very seriously.

She is doing her job because she is proud of it.

Naturally, he didn't dampen her spirit by saying he was just going to take it easy and wing this head butler job.

Basically, he is like a glorified nanny to Flan and Remilia. Other than that, he has a free pass to everything in the mansion.

Anyone with the strength would probably laugh if they heard this.

A True Ancestor, taking care of two normal vampires.

Sakuya was also silently observing Wu Yan's behavior to see if he is disgusted or showed any adverse reaction to taking care of the vampire brats.

She concluded that Wu Yan didn't care what anyone had to say nor did he fuss about small details. He also didn't take his True Ancestor bloodline to be an automatic excuse to look down on everyone else.

Judging from how well he took care of Flan, Sakuya could tell that, given time, the two of them could get along.

In the world of vampires, bloodline is everything. Anyone born from a higher rank automatically wins at life than a lower-ranked bloodline. This is also the same for the draconic race.

In a cultural setting, even if the weaker bloodline vampire had stronger powers, the stronger bloodline with weak powers would still be higher in social status.

Remilia's bloodline is somewhere like vampire noble, not high, but in a setting where the True Ancestors are thought to be extinct, she is like royalty.

However, there are vampires with a higher bloodline than her. This is part of the reason why she felt inferior when talking or thinking about bloodline.

Sakuya respected Wu Yan for not flaunting his status.

In reality, Sakuya has no idea that Wu Yan started out as a human. He bought the True Ancestor bloodline. This is why the concept of bloodline superiority never appealed to him.

If he was born a True Ancestor, perhaps he would be disdainful of Flan and Remilia.

Sakuya continued explaining the house rules.

"In other words..."

Wu Yan concluded.

"My job is to oversee everything and receive reports while tending to Remilia and Flan, correct?"

"Yes."

Ignoring Wu Yan's blatant naming of the two masters, she nodded.

"But, I am the one keeping the two young ladies fed and clothed. You only need to do tasks other than this."

"Okay, I got you."

Wu Yan turned around. He stretched a hand out.

"Anyway, I am still new here so I am going to count on your help from now on, Miss Head Maid."

Sakuya slightly panicked. She didn't expect this courteous smile from Wu Yan.

Sakuya bowed again before grabbing Wu Yan's hand for a firm handshake.

"I, Sakuya will do my best on every job."

Wu Yan silently admired the softness of Sakuya's hand.

Her workload is big but her hands are unmarred by the jobs. It would be easy to mistake this as Sakuya slacking off when no one is around to look.

However, they would be wrong, she is one of the hardest-working maids in Gensokyo.

She is the perfect cool head maid and that's not for show.

Wu Yan stretched his back again.

"Anyway, time is burning away, Sakuya, go wake the two young ladies up."

"Understood, Shiro-sama."
