Shen Ziqiao stared at the owner of the hand in surprise. A cold but handsome face appeared in front of her eyes. It was Qi Zheng!

Qi Zheng eluded a murderous aura. He glanced at the person in front of him coldly. “Scram!”

“Who...who are you?” The sturdy man clutched his hand and glanced at Qi Zheng in fear.

“What do you want to do?” Qi Zheng lowered his head and looked at Shen Ziqiao, not bothering to look at anyone else. He was clearly telling everyone that he was on her side!

Shen Ziqiao thought that Qi Zheng was a great person at this moment. She clenched her teeth and glanced at the common people who didn’t dare to voice their resentment. “Who’s the poisoned one?”

“Third Miss, they’re at the pharmacy.” Shopkeeper Fan squeezed out from the crowd. His forehead and eyelids were all hurt. His body was hit with eggs and tomato, looking extremely battered.

“How many were poisoned?” Shen Ziqiao suppressed her anger and asked in a deep voice.

“One.” Shopkeeper Fan wasn’t nervous. He responded calmly.

A sneer flickered in Shen Ziqiao’s eyes. Just a single person was poisoned, and a whole group of people came to attack the store. It seems like the culprit has really spent a lot of effort planning this.

“Where’s the person?” Shen Ziqiao asked calmly.

Qi Zheng stood by her, quiet. However, people were unable to ignore his tall figure and dignifying imposing manner.

He observed her rear view. Her child-like face wore a faint angry expression. She stared ahead with her jet-black and bright eyes. She wasn’t afraid nor did she back down. She didn’t panic because of what happened with the store.

Was it because she was fearless since she was Shen Xiao’s daughter?

No, that’s not what happened.

Shen was trying to resolve the issue. She wasn’t the type of young miss that took advantage of her status to bully others.

“In the pharmacy. They already woke up.” Shopkeeper Fan was a middle-aged man with a round and kind face. He respectfully responded to Shen Ziqiao like how he did to Pan Madam.

Shen Ziqiao had someone bring over the poisoned victim and their family members.

“They’re so ruthless and lacking conscience. They’re already poisoned, but these people won’t let them rest. They’re clearly trying to make them die.” Mama Li’s nephew, Li Junjie was unresigned after seeing how the situation had been controlled. He started to add oil to the fire again.

“I was wondering who it is. I see it’s Shopkeeper Li, ah. Speaking of, this has to do with you too. You’re the one in charge of the rice in the store. If there’s something wrong with the rice, there’s no way you can escape the blame.” Shen Ziqiao had long kept her gaze on this bastard. She glared at him the moment he talked, even indicating for the driver to pull that man over.

Li Junjie hollered, “I was already kicked out of Shen Family by Third Miss. How is it my business that the Shen Family killed people?”

“You’ll see whether it has to do with you or not.” Shen Ziqiao sneered.

It was unclear who went to report to the government office, but dozens of officers appeared in front of everyone in a straight line, surrounding those causing a disturbance.

Shen Ziqiao glanced gratefully at Qi Zheng.

“Have you all bought rice from our store? When did you guys buy it and what type of rice? I need you guys to record the information. If it’s really our store’s fault, we will assume responsibility for everything. But if it’s not…the officials are here. Our Shen Family won’t take advantage of our status and bully you guys, but we won’t allow ourselves to be wrongly accused either.” Her childish voice was mixed with a tint of stern imposing manner.

They’re bullying her because she was a girl? What joke! Let’s see who is more powerful!

The dozens of common people all looked at each other, guilt flickering in their eyes.

“We were poisoned after eating the rice in your store!” The family member of the poisoned victim exclaimed confidently.

Shen Ziqiao glanced coldly at them. “Really? What type of rice did you guys buy? Our store’s Suzhou Rice or Yuebei Rice? Is it white or brown rice?”

“It’s Yue...Yuebei Rice!” That woman said.

“Are you sure you bought Yuebei Rice?” Shen Ziqiao glanced at Shopkeeper Fan and he asked loudly.

The poisoned man was carried over. He seemed pretty okay besides having a pale face.

Seeing his husband, the woman immediately straightened her body. “That’s right. My husband got poisoned after buying your Yuebei Rice. We just bought it yesterday.”

Besides the officials, there were quite a few common people in front of the store. Shopkeeper Fan shouted at the top of his lungs. “Everyone heard that. They were poisoned after eating Yuebei Rice, but our store ran out of it three days ago. They’re clearly framing our store.”

Quite a few people’s expressions changed.

“I remembered wrong.” The woman said, “I, I bought it five days ago.”

Besides a few with ulterior motives, the people that came to cause a disturbance here were just strangers. They thought that they were doing those a favor, so they also joined the show.

Hearing the woman’s words, everyone felt as if they were lied to.

Shopkeeper Fan waved his hand at the leader of the officials, “This woman is lying and trying to frame our store. We never sold any Yuebei Rice. We’ve only been selling Suzhou Rice. I don’t know who she was incited by, and tried to frame our rice store. But I hope you guys can find out whether they’re targeting the rice store or General Shen.”

“How could there be no Yuebei Rice? Your shop assistant clearly said it was in stock yesterday!” Li Junjie said with an ashened expression.

“That’s right. We did replenish a stock of Yuebei Rice, but it’s still sitting in our warehouse right now. We haven’t taken it out to sell it yet. Could it be...someone stole the rice in our warehouse and sold it to someone else?” Shopkeeper Fan asked sternly.

Li Junjie’s expression turned unwell.

An icy glint flickered in Shen Ziqiao’s jet-black eyes.

“Officials, please bring us justice!” Shopkeeper Fan continued.

Li Junjie wanted to hide in the crowd.

“Shopkeeper Fan, do you still recognize who hurt you and smashed our door?” Shen Ziqiao’s eyes wore mockery. He really thought that she’d let him go just like this?

Did she seem like the Virgin Mary?

“Naturally.” Shopkeeper Fan and the shop assistants in the store easily recognized the leaders that smashed the store.

They pointed at Li Junjie and said, “He..he gave us silver taels for us to beat people up.”

Shen Ziqiao said to the officials, “Troubling you guys. I’ll leave you guys to handle these people. In the future, the Shen Family naturally won’t forget your hard work.”

They wanted her to stay silent and keep the peace after they beat her people and smashed her store? Keep dreaming!

Qi Zheng stared at her rear view with his ink-black eyes. There was an angry glint in her eyes and she pursed her lips tightly. This girl… really knows how to hold a grudge.

He loved her straightforward and cute personality.

Not long later, Official Ning from the capital’s Shuntian Governmental Office arrived. After he greeted Shen Ziqiao and Qi Zheng, he quickly dispersed the crowd and arrested Li Junjie along with the rest.

“Official Ning, this Li Junjie used to be the shopkeeper of my store. Not only was he lazy and greedy, but he even replaced good rice with inferior-quality rice. A scumbag like him won’t repent and change his ways unless you punish him. Right?” Shen Ziqiao smiled and said this.

Official Ning understood her words.

Qi Zheng smiled by the side.

About an hour later, they were the only ones left in the rice store.

Shen Ziqiao just thanked Qi Zheng at this time.

“Thank you.” If he hadn’t arrived in time and even got the officials over, she really didn’t know how to clean up the mess today.

She might be injured… Well, that’s no big deal. The point was that Li Junjie wanted her life!

“You clearly knew that the other party came prepared, but you still jumped down like a fool. Haven’t you thought of the consequences? When can you act like a lady with how impulsive you are?” Qi Zheng glanced at the lady who was only up to his chest. He couldn’t help but scold her.

Shen Ziqiao pursed her lips. “I didn’t think that much.”

“You didn’t even think at all! You’re like a child.” Qi Zheng lifted his hand to flick her forehead. “You didn’t even think about the consequences.”

“Hey! Are you done talking yet?” Shen Ziqiao lifted her head to glare at her. He was addicted to scolding her now, was he?

Qi Zheng glared at her. “Are you listening to me? Don’t you dare to be that impulsive. Think about the consequences first.”

Everyone stared flabbergasted as Qi Zheng scolded Shen Ziqiao.

No one dared to scold Third Miss like that.

Shen Ziqiao shouted, “I know, I know!”

She really was being moronic this time. When she got off the horse carriage, she already regretted her decision.

This was the first time he saw her being that well-behaved and obedient.

Qi Zheng felt his heart softening.

“Are you hurt?” His deep voice revealed his deep concern for her. His eyes were sparkling like the stars.

Shen Ziqiao’s scalp felt numb. She thought that his voice was much more pleasant than a cello. “No, they didn’t touch me.”

Because you arrived in time.

“Why are you here?” Shen Ziqiao asked quickly. He appeared here by coincidence?

Qi Zheng shifted his gaze. He saw her horse carriage on the east streets. He had the intention of finding her, and then heard that someone was causing a disturbance on the west streets. Therefore, he guessed that she’d be here. Afraid that she might get in an accident, he hurried over.

Thankfully, he came in time.

“It’s fine. Go home now.” Qi Zheng wanted to pat her hand, but he held in his urge.

Shen Ziqiao stopped thinking about how Qi Zheng had appeared here just in time. She sighed. “It’s so hard trying to manage the household. Why is it so hard being a woman?”

Qi Zheng curled the corner of his lips up. “You find it difficult already?”

“I don’t like this lifestyle.” Shen Ziqiao revealed a lonely expression. She missed the days in the past.

She wondered if she could go back.

“Then what sort of life do you want to live?” Qi Zheng couldn’t help but ask.

Shen Ziqiao’s eyes suddenly sparkled like diamonds. “I want to naturally wake up, and count money until my hands have cramps. I don’t have to worry about anything, and keep harping on trivial matters. Women can’t worry too much. They’ll become old easily.”

Qi Zheng softly chuckled, suddenly in a happy mood. “How is that hard?”

Sigh. “Every family goes through its problems. Okay, it’s getting late. I need to go back. Thank you for today. You don’t owe me anything anymore.”
