Chapter 12.3 - Shopping for a Bed (3)

They were no longer in the mood to continue shopping at the furniture mall, so Qin Ge drove Wu Tong home.  

They quickly arrived at their destination. Just as Wu Tong was about to get off, Qin Ge suddenly stopped her and handed her the black card again.

“What is the meaning of this?” Wu Tong’s expression darkened.

“I have a 20% stake in the Qin Enterprise, but I don’t manage any part of the company. My brother, Qin Huai, will take over the company in the future.” Qin Ge suddenly added, “But I still have a lot of money and I’m willing to share it with you.”

“When did I… imply that I needed your money?” Wu Tong tried her best to suppress her anger.

“You never implied it nor do you need to. I’m giving it to you of my own accord,” Qin Ge replied. “Because besides money, I’m not sure what else I could possibly give you.”

“Do you know what it means for a man—especially a rich man—to spend money on a woman?” asked Wu Tong.

“I don’t know.” Qin Ge shook his head. “All I know is that I have money and you’re my wife.”

So you’re handing me your payroll card? Wu Tong suddenly thought. It was an absurd thought but, for some reason, she was no longer angry.

“No need. I don’t want it.” Wu Tong pushed the car door to get off.

Qin Ge leaned over and slammed the door shut. He insisted on giving the black card to Wu Tong. “Take it.”

Wu Tong looked at Qin Ge’s earnest expression. “Do I have to take it?”

Qin Ge nodded with a look that made it hard for her to reject his offer.  

Wu Tong pursed her lips. She didn’t want to upset him, so she decided it was best to just accept the card.  

Qin Ge’s face instantly brightened up and he smiled as he planted a kiss on Wu Tong’s lips. He leaned in close to Wu Tong’s ears, smiling as he said, “The pin number is the day we got married.”

Wu Tong gripped the black card as she stood outside the entrance to her apartment complex. She watched as the Jeep pulled away. She was still absorbing what had just happened. A mental patient’s thought process isn’t something a normal person can understand.

“Second cousin.” Wu Kai suddenly came out from behind a tree looking somewhat grave.

Wu Tong was startled. “Xiao Kai?”

They both headed upstairs. When they arrived, Wu Tong handed a bottle of coke to Wu Kai and inquired, “Why are you here?”

“Second cousin, did you really marry the eldest young master of the Qin family?” Wu Kai suddenly asked.

Wu Tong stared blankly at him before smiling and nodding her head in response.

“Did my dad force you?”

“He didn’t. I’m the one who agreed to the marriage,” responded Wu Tong.

“No way! Back then, it was clearly my dad who sought out the Qin family for a marriage of convenience. But how did you end up being the one getting married?” Wu Kai continued, “I knew something was off that day when my dad took us to the hospital to test for organ compatibility.”

“Xiao Kai.” Wu Tong calmly looked at her cousin, who was young and impulsive, and said, “It doesn’t matter how it happened, the only thing you need to know is that… I was the one who made this decision.”

“I knew it… I knew it...!” Wu Kai suddenly felt self-hatred. “If my bone marrow hadn’t been a successful match…”

Wu Tong stopped Wu Kai from continuing his train of thought. “If your bone marrow hadn’t been a successful match, then no one would’ve been able to save Xiao Yuan’s life.”

“If Xiao Yuan found out about this…”

“Then don’t tell him. At least not right now…” Wu Tong begged. “Promise me.”

“Second cousin…” Wu Kai didn’t know how things got to this point but he had no power to change things. He was silent for a few moments before he asked, “Does he treat you well?”

“He will treat me well,” Wu Tong responded with a smile. But it also seemed like she was hoping this was the case.

Yo, does anyone else think that Wu Kai has a crush on Wu Tong? I was literally sus-ing him out the first few chapters. O . O
