Wan Yi’s voice became lower, “Xiao Yan said that she and Mr. Jiang were no longer husband and wife in name only.”

Shen Peiran couldn’t believe his ears. He looked at Wan Yi in disbelief.

“Of course, she decided to start anew with Mr. Jiang not because of this one matter but because in the course of getting along with him she found out his good side. Their relationship now is quite good. As for the reason for why Xiao Yan is letting go of you, she didn’t tell me. This is her personal matter, I wouldn’t force her. She must have a reason. The same goes for you. She has already gone her own way. Shen Peiran, don’t be stubborn anymore.”

Wan Yi also felt it was extremely hard to speak these words. Truly, a person can only love one person at a time, and can only be responsible for one person. Involving the emotions of three people was too messy.

Amongst the three, there would always be one who would be wounded.

Shen Peiran still couldn’t come to terms with it for a long time as he remained lost. He didn’t have an appetite anymore. He stood up and stepped out of the restaurant in a daze. Standing in the restaurant's entrance, facing the sun, for the first time, he felt his body go cold.

The bar still wasn’t open. He went to a coffee shop and ordered several bottles of wine. His stunned state gave way to anger.

Anger was the fuse which ignited every emotion. He started to drink non stop, wanting to drown his consciousness. Actually, while he was dating Su Yan, he also had those kinds of thoughts, after all he was also a normal person, but each time they found themselves alone together, if he expressed even a hint of intimacy, Su Yan would reject him. She always said that she wished to break away from the identity of Mrs. Jiang before getting together with him for real, or else she would feel ill at ease and guilty, as this went against all the education she had received since childhood.

He understood her. But as a result, she unexpectedly climbed up someone else’s bed?!

Haha. Seriously? Who said that since Jiang Jingchuan was her husband, whatever happened between them was legal.

Wang Siqi was observing Shen Peiran this whole time. She followed him to the coffee shop, and sat a few seats away from him at the counter. When Shen Peiran had become drunk, she slowly picked up her bag, walked over, and sat down next to him before softly asking: “Mr. Shen, do you remember me?”

Shen Peiran opened his eyes to look at her before shaking his head.

He wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone, and didn’t even want to look at Wang Siqi.

“We met at the banquet. What happened to you?” Wang Siqi had heard some of the words exchanged between Wan Yi and Shen Peiran, but she wasn’t as agitated as Shen Peiran. She also wanted to know whether Shen Peiran still trusted that slut since a sexual relationship had already taken place between Su Yan and Jiang Jingchuan..

Shen Peiran remained silent and continued to drink.

Upon seeing Shen Peiran drinking normally, Wang Siqi pretended to carelessly say: “You and Mrs. Jiang were classmates, right? Why didn’t I see you at their wedding ceremony? Let me tell you, I really admire Mrs. Jiang, she has such a loving relationship with Mr. Jiang. Few months ago, while I was eating with Mrs. Jiang, I asked her when would she have a child. She had replied saying very soon, but I still haven’t heard anything about it.”

Shen Peiran’s eyes turned red, he turned to look at her: “What. Did. You. Say?”

“Huh?” Wang Siqi’s eyes widened, as if puzzled, “What’s wrong?”

She knew that Shen Peiran was burning with anger due to Su Yan having sexual relationship with Jiang Jingchuan. She said these words to only convey one message to him, that Su Yan had already betrayed him earlier. As long as Shen Peiran was filled with anger, then no matter what he does, it should bring her the desired results.

Men ah, what they couldn’t tolerate the most was betrayal.

Seeing Shen Peiran’s face becoming sombre, Wang Siqi smiled in satisfaction.

Su Yan was secretly learning Pinyin[1] at home, she could read the words used here and write a few of them but she absolutely didn’t know how to type it out on the phone. Although as long as she was closer to Jiang Jingchuan, that big tree, she didn’t have to worry about food or clothing. But who could be more clearer than her that if she couldn’t adapt to this era then it wouldn't be long before she was ultimately abandoned by this era.

She wanted to learn as many things as possible. For example, to master all the terms of the social interaction here, it was best to learn different sorts of skills here.

Although she said she wanted to shake up the pillow and have a good sleep and be a happy rice weevil, she also did not want to just eat and wait for death. When she was living in the Imperial Harem before, Qin, Go, Calligraphy and Painting, she could do it all. She cannot do so here. But for even the daily communication with people to become a problem?

It is always good to have more skills. Since if one had more skills then naturally their charm would rise steadily.

In this aspect, Su Yan was a very conscious person. She had never seen a  hollow person with only beauty, unable to do anything. Only a person with straws for a brain will carelessly laugh. Jiang Jingchuan was erudite, multi-talented, handsome, wealthy and powerful. Do not think that being together with such a person meant you can relax and set your mind at ease. There would be many matters to worry about. The best sort of relationship that captivated people was one where the couple was well matched in terms of ability.

Su Yan was learning things quickly, since she was so eager to integrate herself into this era. At least now, she was capable of typing out simple messages on the phone.

After having lunch, Su Yan sat cross legged on the sofa. Looking at the Pinyin chart, she slowly began typing on the mobile by poking with one finger and finally typed out a nice and simple message. After she sent that message, she collapsed on the sofa. Staring at the ceiling of the room, she secretly cheered herself up that everything would change for the better.

Jiang Jingchuan had also just finished lunch and had returned to his office, about to go to the side room to take a short rest. Suddenly his phone vibrated. He took out his phone from his pocket, when he saw that Su Yan had sent a message. Subconsciously, the corners of his mouth turned upwards.

【Have you eaten? I ate. —— Mrs. Jiang】

This message[2]......

As he entered the sideroom he quickly typed and replied to the message.

Su Yan was puzzled when she received that message. How could it be replied so quickly? It used to take her one month to reply so quickly and correctly.

【Have eaten, It was delicious. Let's eat together next time. —— Mr. Jiang.】

Su Yan got addicted to sending SMS messages, but it couldn’t be helped that she was very slow at typing. So sometimes when Jiang Jingchuan would send a text message, it would end up taking her more than 10 minutes to be able to reply to that message.

However, sending these short messages of intimate words felt pretty shameful.

_(:3」∠)_

【Thanks Husband :) —— Mrs. Jiang. 】

While learning pinyin, Mrs. Jiang, who stealthily learnt how to use expressions[3], felt she was pretty stylish. But Mr. Jiang, who associated these emoticons with his beautiful wife’s smile, for the first time felt that the work at his hand was too much, which prevented him from leaving work on time.

Finding a moment from his busy work, Mr. Jiang wrote a very short message. He felt the reason why Mrs. Jiang was taking so long in sending such a short message was definitely to tease him, therefore he also must reply to the message a bit slower, to make her taste the feeling of waiting for a message.

【:) :) :) ——Mr. Jiang.】

During the dinner time Jiang Jingchuan called to say that he would be working overtime  till late night today because there was a videoconference to be held. So Su Yan can sleep early and doesn't need to wait for him.

After hanging up the phone, Su Yan was lost in thought before ultimately deciding to call Auntie Wang. She instructed her in a soft voice: “Make the kitchen prepare several dishes that husband loves to eat. I will take it to him afterwards.”

While he works overtime, she could keep him company. Actually men were very easy to move as long as one paid attention to the details.

The most important thing was, Su Yan could feel that Jiang Jingchuan’s feelings for her were slowly rising, which can be seen from his behavior in this short period of time. In this way, she should continue making persistent efforts.

“Do you need me to tell Sir?” Auntie Wang asked.

“No thank you. I will secretly go and give him a nice surprise.”  Su Yan winked. Jiang Jingchuan would absolutely never expect her to accompany him as he worked overtime.

Before Su Yan left home, Lu Yang came over to Jiang Corp. They used to be classmates while they studied overseas. Now that he had returned, naturally he wanted to meet for a meal some time.

Lu Yang, sitting in Jiang Jingchuan’s office, said with a smile: “Sometimes when I recall our life overseas, I miss those times. At that time we only knew to immerse ourselves in completing the projects and didn’t do anything else. Those days passed so quickly and fulfillingly.”

Jiang Jingchuan couldn’t stop himself from smiling, “How are things? Have you been able to adjust?”

Although Lu Yang cannot be said to be a close friend, they both admire each other and have also undergone the same experience, so they could still have a talk.

“It’s okay. Important matters can be dealt with, but many trifling things are tedious and  annoying.”  Lu Yang’s words provoked laughter from Jiang Jingchuan.

“If important matters can be dealt with, then minor matters should become even easier.” Jiang Jingchuan understood that Lu Yang was talking about Venerable Sir Chen’s son and grandson who as of late were always taking great pains to provoke Lu Yang, making him very annoyed and irritated.

If it was an equal opponent, then it can be completely handled fairly.  But on the contrary, the other party was an outwardly appealing but inwardly worthless person, and also had old man Chen watching from the other side, therefore, couldn’t hit, couldn’t curse, could only endure.

Just as Lu Yang was about to leave, he finally noticed several rolls of calligraphy hung in Jiang Jingchuan’s office. He was fascinated for some time, and walked towards it to inspect it carefully. Jiang Jingchuan didn’t stop him.

“Who wrote these characters? I can’t recognise it.” Lu Yang felt that since Jiang Jingchuan had hung it in his office then it must have come from a renowned master. Although he had studied calligraphy, he could only roughly make out that it should be written by a woman. As for who specifically wrote it, he couldn’t guess.

Jiang Jingchuan had already made his assistant frame all the works written by Su Yan and hang it up on the wall inside his office. Lu Yang was the first person to ask about them.

“Well, my wife wrote these since she felt bored at home. I saw that it was good so decided to mount it in my office.” Although Jiang Jingchuan said it indifferently, Lu Yang could hear the pride and affection from his tone.

Lu Yang slightly raised his head to look at the characters written by Su Yan. For a while,  he gasped in admiration and praised her in his heart.

"I didn't expect Mrs. Jiang to be such a talented woman."

"You're too kind. She just wrote it for fun."

Indeed, only amusing herself yet wrote so well. Jiang Jingchuan thought so at heart.

Barb Notes:

Words info-

1. Pinyin- It is the romanisation of the Chinese characters, for eg- 人 is pronunced as rén, so rén here is the Pinyin. Pinyin is usually learnt by the beginners to make it easier to learn the language.

2. Here the ML thinks this message is slightly..odd, because usually whenever we write a message to close friends we never sign off with our name because we know that our message will show under our name which the recipient had saved in his contacts. Since Su Yan doesn't know this so thats why she wrote her name at the end. The ML thinks she is intentionally doing this so he also cutely decides to play along.

3. She thinks them to be 'expressions', they are emoticons :)
